Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest metropolises, have received the government’s approval for the firework displays, the Hanoi Times reported.

Quang Ninh was one of the Covid-19 hotspots in the country’s latest outbreak that started in late January, prompting authorities to impose lockdown measures and close all tourist destinations. With the outbreak put under control, the province will organize several cultural events and art shows to boost tourism during the national holidays.
A 15-minute firework display will take place in the central province of Nghe An, where is home to Cua Lo beach and the UNESCO-recognized Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve, in addition to street festivals and tourism and cultural events.
A low-altitude firework display will also be organized in the northern city of Haiphong, the central province of Quang Tri, and the southern province of Long An, according to the Hanoi Times.
We don’t know exactly how fireworks were invented but most experts agree that the unknown inventor came from China more than 2,000 years ago. As the Chinese began to use green bamboo in religious ceremonies, people threw chunks of it onto a fire. What they didn’t expect was that when the bamboo burned, it exploded with a loud sound.
They believed that the sound made evil spirits afraid and so they were used at a number of happy occasions to ward off evil. Thus the idea for the modern firework was found. Years later, with gunpowder’s brighter light and louder sounds, it soon replaced the age-old method of bamboo.
Fireworks have now gone on to become a crowd-pleasing way to mark special occasions in the modern day, like religious festivals, military victories and weddings.
