The local authorities, specifically the Police Investigation Agency of Binh Thuan Provincial Police, disclosed that they successfully seized the suspected murder weapons—a hammer and a motorcycle believed to be used for transporting and disposing of the victim’s body.
The discovery of the crime took place in Thien Nghiep commune (Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan), where locals stumbled upon the victim’s body wrapped in a blanket while working in the fields a few days earlier.
Initial autopsy results revealed the victim as Vasilii Echushin, a 44-year-old Russian national, with a significant head wound. The suspect, identified through security camera footage, confessed to the murder, citing a dispute arising from a disagreement over finding a room to rent.
According to the suspect’s account, he sought the victim’s assistance in securing employment, leading to a heated argument when Echushin couldn’t help. The altercation escalated, resulting in the tragic loss of life. The suspect then admitted to transporting the victim’s body to a farmland, where it was abandoned.
