A man visiting a Hanoi hospital this month has contracted the novel coronavirus, raising the capital’s locally transmitted cases to 12.

Four hundred foreign visitors wishing to leave ancient town Hoi An amid the country’s new Covid-19 wave will undergo free coronavirus screening.
The 87-year-old man lives in Phu Tho Province that neighbors Hanoi with five other family members.
In the past month, neither he nor anyone in the family went outside their neighborhood in Khai Xuan Commune of Thanh Ba District. The man himself does not suffer any chronic diseases. VNExpress reported.
On the morning of August 11, he visited the E Hospital in Hanoi for a health check after having a fever and muscle pain at the lower right rib. He did not cough or suffer breathing difficulty.
Two days later, he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with pneumonia.
The hospital then took his samples for the novel coronavirus testing. He was confirmed positive on Wednesday.
The E Hospital has suspended operations from Wednesday night and disinfected its entire area. It has isolated 50 people for testing as they have had close contact with the man.
This man has brought Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally to 994, 533 of whom have recovered, and 25 have died.
Since July 25 when community transmissions resurfaced in Vietnam, the nation has recorded 654 locally transmitted cases and 514 of them are linked to the outbreak in central Da Nang City. Hanoi alone has got 12 of such cases, according to VNExpress.

According to the VNExpress, the tourists “wish to leave for a safer place” as the central town has recorded 30 Covid-19 cases since July 25 when the first domestic infection was recorded in the country in over three months. Many areas across Hoi An are now locked down, with all tourism activities suspended.
All foreign tourists are required to show papers to prove that they are leaving like air or train tickets in order to have free Covid-19 tests, which aim to limit the risk of spreading the virus to other localities, the office said.
Hoi An authorities also required foreign visitors who test negative for the virus to isolate themselves and avoid infection risks before leaving the town.
Hoi An, an UNESCO heritage site and a popular tourist destination in Quang Nam Province, was among several localities where strict social distancing restrictions have been imposed since July 31.
All residents are required to stay home except for special cases and maintain a distance of at least two meters from each other in public. Public gatherings of more than two people are prohibited, except at offices, schools and hospitals.
Quang Nam is now the country’s second largest Covid-19 hotspot, after its neighbor Da Nang.
