Five people in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Nam have tested positive for the coronavirus, all linked to a recent outbreak in the central city of Danang according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
With the new five patients, Vietnam has recorded 48 locally transmitted coronavirus cases since the pandemic resurfaced in the community last Saturday. The Health & Life, a state-run media reported.

According to a report by VNExpress, 219 Vietnamese workers, 129 of them positive for the coronavirus, arrived home from Equatorial Guinea on a special flight Wednesday afternoon. During the flight, two Covid-19 patients developed breathing difficulties and were provided emergency support.
On landing, a special vehicle took all passengers and the flight crew to Hanoi’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases where they will be quarantined for 14 days and tested for the novel coronavirus.
All the infected citizens will be treated at the hospital, the highest number of Covid-19 patients it has had to tend to at the same time.
As of today evening, Vietnam has confirmed 464 Covid-19 cases so far, 95 of them active.
With more than 95 million people, Vietnam is the most populous country in the world to have recorded no deaths from the virus, and until now no locally transmitted infections had been reported for months.
That record is now under threat following an outbreak last weekend in Danang, where tens of thousands of domestic tourists were vacationing thanks to discounted travel deals.
The government on Tuesday suspended all flights to and from Danang for 15 days. At least 30 infections have been detected in or around the city.
About 18,000 tourists who had been in Danang have returned to the southern business hub of Ho Chi Minh City, authorities said on Tuesday. Another 21,000 returned to Hanoi, the city’s governing body said on Wednesday.
The Vietnam’s Ministry of Health issued an urgent notice to trace people who have visited the venues or places where confirmed COVID-19 patients have been.
They called on anyone who has visited the these locations in Da Nang City and Quảng Nam Province – Vietnam’s latest COVID-19 hotspots – to come forward and seek medical help as soon as possible.
They must also self-quarantine at home, file a health status declaration at https://tokhaiyte.vn or download NCOVI app (the links for download can be found at https://ncovi.vn) and frequently submit information regarding their health.
