Techcombank system went down again yesterday morning with many customers unable to login to their online banking or to the mobile app for hours.
“Anyone else unable to log into the Techcombank app? I keep getting the same message when I try logging in. I know they were doing maintenance on the app but that was scheduled to end on May 2nd according to their email.” said an expat in Vietnam.
The bank admitted the problem, but some customers say it’s the second time they’ve been locked out of accounts in just one week.
There were many reports of issues at the height of the problems yesterday morning on the social media.
“I and other friends of mine also have the same problem. I think they are extending maintenance . This app has been so good for me, so hopefully by tomorrow everything is back and better.”
The outage appeared to affect customers across Vietnam.
One frustrated customer wrote on Facebook: “I have tried to transfer the money to my partner’s account at VPBank, but it not work as the app is down.”
Another wrote: “Come on guys. When I read of key workers not being able to transfer money to pay for their lunch, it’s really not on and “Sorry” doesn’t cut it does it?
Someone else added: “Can we update online banking so it actually works!!! Second time in a week I can’t log on, sort it.”
“In these trying times when people need online access to their accounts it doesn’t work!”
Someone else just said: “Techcombank, your internet banking app is down again.
“I get paid tomorrow please tell me this is going to be resolved by then?”
In a statement Techcombank said: “With the goal of modernizing the technology platform to ensure better customer experience as well as improving the quality of products and services, meeting the needs of customers, Techcombank will upgrade the banking system from April 29th, 2020 to May 03rd, 2020”.
“We sincerely apologize to customers for any inconvenience that may occur during the system upgrade. Please consider the payment and transaction plans during upgrade timelines. We thank you for your understanding.

But it seems “many customer could not reach its call center”, Cafe.vn, a local media reported.
