Swiss-Belhotel International plans to open 10 new hotels and residences over the next four years in Vietnam, the group reported earlier this week.
The Hong Kong-based hospitality company currently has 145 hotels and resorts, either operating or in the pipeline, in 22 countries. Currently, in Vietnam, the group has one property open and two in the pipeline.
The two properties in the pipeline are the 298-room Swiss-Belhotel Suites & Residences Ha Long Bay scheduled to open at the end of this year and in 2022, the 218-room Swiss-Belresort Bai Dai Phu Quoc will open its doors on Vietnam’s popular Phu Quoc Island off the Gulf of Thailand coast in southern Vietnam.
At present, the group has just one property fully operational in Vietnam; the 151-room Swiss-Belresort Tuyen Lam.
Over the next three or four years, it plans to have at least 10 hotels and resorts under its wing. Destinations under consideration include key cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Haiphong and Danang, beachfront locations such as Phu Quoc, Quy Nhon and Van Phong, and Sapa and Hoi An both cultural or heritage destinations.
Swiss-Belhotel International’s development in Vietnam forms part of a broader global growth strategy. By the end of 2020, the group says its portfolio will increase to 250 properties comprising approximately 25,000 rooms under 14 brands.
