HCM CITY The Việt Nam Culinary Culture Association (VCCA) has announced a list of 121 typical and unique dishes in Việt Nam in 2022.
The list is part of the association’s project to build a database of 1,000 Vietnamese dishes by 2023.
From this database, the VCCA plans to build a map of Vietnamese cuisine by 2024 as part of creating a Vietnamese cuisine museum in Huế.
Nguyễn Quốc Kỳ, VCCA chairman, said the preservation and promotion of Vietnamese cuisine culture was a long and tough journey, but they received huge support from cuisine experts and organisations to elevate Vietnamese cuisine to the world.
He added the VCCA planned to work with authorities of 63 cities and provinces to promote typical local dishes to the people and tourists.
Since June, the association received a list of 421 dishes recommended by the tourism and culture authorities, cuisine associations and tourism promotion centres in 63 cities and provinces.
The VCCA’s Professional Council, consisting of cuisine artisans Phan Gia Tôn Hiền, Hồ Đắc Thiếu Anh, Nguyễn Thị Hiền and Lê Thị Thiết, selected 121 typical and unique dishes with high popularity from different regions.
Of them, there are 47 dishes from the north, 37 from the central and 37 from the south, which are favourite foods of local people and tourists. — VNS
