The Ho Chi Minh City Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR) has reported to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Office on the progress of the Metro Line No. 1 project. According to the report, commercial operation of the metro line is expected to commence in late 2024, instead of July 2024 as previously planned.
The report states that the project will complete the acceptance of fire prevention and fighting by the fourth quarter of 2024. The certification and system safety appraisal for the remaining stations will also be completed by then. Following this, the State Inspection Council will inspect and accept the remaining items, after which the project will start full-line commercial operation.
MAUR has recommended that the City People’s Committee direct departments to support the acceleration of work related to adjusting the progress of projects. The contractor will also be influenced to complete the work content to ensure the progress of putting the project into operation. Additionally, there are plans and options related to operation and exploitation, project appraisal, approval, and acceptance procedures that need to be considered.
The Management Authority for Urban Railways has provided a detailed plan for the Metro Line No. 1 project. The infrastructure construction packages will be completed in the first quarter of 2024.
In the second quarter of 2024, 2 trains and equipment will be handed over to the General Consultant in advance to conduct early training of route operating personnel for HURC1 Company.
The third quarter of 2024 will see the review of the project’s system safety assessment, completion of fire protection and acceptance work, and training for train driving, operating, and station management personnel.
Finally, in the fourth quarter of 2024, fire protection and acceptance work will be completed, the certification and system safety appraisal for the remaining stations will be finished, the remaining items will be accepted, and full-line commercial operations will commence.
In conclusion, the commercial operation of Metro Line No. 1 has been postponed until the fourth quarter of 2024. At a press conference in November 2023, the Urban Railway Management Board had initially announced that the line would begin operating commercially in July 2024.
