Authorities in Hanoi have made it mandatory for all restaurants and cafés across the capital city to measure the body temperature of customers, along with implementing a set of other safety practices, from Wednesday.
While presiding over a municipal meeting on COVID-19 prevention and control on Monday afternoon, Hanoi vice-chairman Ngo Van Quy said that the risks of infection remain high at medical establishments, beer shops, eateries and cafés in the city, calling for strict implementation of safety measures at such places
Quy thus requested all districts in Hanoi to continue encouraging people to wear face masks in public places and banning gatherings of over 30 people.
Anyone who shows symptoms of a fever and coughing must notify the local medical facility, while the elderly with severe underlying illnesses must stay home and refrain from going outside unnecessarily.
“Restaurants, cafés, and beer shops must strictly arrange seats at least one meter apart, measure customers’ body temperature, and make them use hand sanitizer before entering the venues,” Quy said, adding that the measures have to be adopted across the city from 0:00 am Wednesday.
Meanwhile, hospitals and medical facilities were asked to review the implementation of COVID-19 prevention and control.
“Any establishment failing to guarantee their safety will be suspended,” Quy emphasized.
Medical establishments must also strictly observe the regulation on segregating visitors, protecting the safety of doctors, nurses and staff, and departments that treat patients with serious underlying diseases.
Hanoi has so far recorded 155 cases of COVID-19, including 11 infections since July 25, when Vietnam detected the first local transmission – a 57-year-old male patient in Da Nang – after 99 days.
As many as 121 patients in the capital city have recovered and none have died of COVID-19.
Vietnam’s COVID-19 tally has hit 983 infections, with 481 recoveries and 25 fatalities.
