HCM CITY — HCM City will host a series of cultural activities to mark the Hùng Kings Commemoration and the 49th anniversary of South Việt Nam’s Liberation and Reunification Day (April 30).
A ceremony to commemorate the Hùng Kings, known as the country’s founders, will be held on April 18 (the 10th day of the third month of the lunar calendar) at the Hùng Kings memorial area located in the Park of Culture and National History in Thủ Đức City.
The event will include a series of martial arts performances, dragon dances, and traditional art shows on April 17 and 18.
In addition, the city will host a special programme called “Ngày Hội Non Sông Thống Nhất” (National Reunification Day) to mark the 49th anniversary of South Việt Nam’s Liberation and Reunification Day.
The programme will include a music and dance gala introducing songs praising the country, its islands and seas, President Hồ Chí Minh, and the city on April 29, featuring popular singers such as Tạ Minh Tâm, Võ Hạ Trâm and Nguyễn Phi Hùng.
Many music and art performances will also be held to serve people and workers at industrial parks and export processing zones in outlying districts and Thủ Đức city on April 30 and May 1.
A photo exhibition highlighting the country and the city’s development and achievements will be open to the public downtown in late April.
The city will also offer a fireworks display on April 30 from 9 – 9:15pm. — VNS
