The Ministry of Health requested to suspend medical declaration for Covid-19 at all border gates of Vietnam, but still maintain supervision of passengers on entry according to regulations.
On the morning of April 27, the Ministry of Health informed that this unit had sent document number 2118 to 45 provinces and cities with medical quarantine activities.
This agency requested to temporarily suspend the application of Covid-19 medical declaration at all Vietnam’s border gates for entry. The application period is from 0:00 on April 27.
However, this agency required to maintain supervision of passengers on entry at border gates according to regulations.
According to the Ministry of Health, this decision was made in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic appearing in most countries around the world. The disease has a specific and effective preventive vaccine against circulating strains of SARS-CoV-2.
In recent times, the epidemic has tended to reduce the number of cases and deaths on a global scale. In Vietnam, the epidemic has been controlled nationwide with a high coverage rate of Covid-19 vaccine.
Earlier, speaking at a conference on the morning of April 26, Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that he had assigned authorities to disseminate the cancellation of domestic health declarations.
“The Ministry of Health has assigned the Department of Preventive Medicine and will send documents to guide localities on this issue. Through this, Vietnam will gradually move towards normalization after the Covid-19 epidemic,” said Mr. Long.
Medical declaration is one of the 5 principles of Covid-19 prevention and control applied by Vietnam in the past 2 years (5K). In addition to medical declaration, 5K also includes masks, disinfection, distance and not gathering.
