“More and more businesses, production establishments and business households had resumed operations after the city eased social distancing”, Pham Duc Hai, deputy head of the city Steering Committee for Pandemic Prevention and Control told reporter.

“However, the number of workers now in industrial parks and export processing zones is just 135,000, or 46 percent of the normal requirement, and a severe shortage looms”, he added.
HCMC is urging workers to return to work and offering them incentives, Vietnam News Agency reported.

“All migrant workers who had returned to their hometown would get text messages from city authorities or their employers. But they would have to meet Covid-19 testing and vaccination conditions”. Nguyễn Văn Lâm, deputy director of the city Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs said.
A number of travel agencies in Vietnam’s HCMC have also started bringing tourists back on tours, developing new local tourism products and preparing to connect to neighboring provinces for closed tours.
Vietravel has organized the first tour to Can Gio after a long social distancing period. The city Department of Tourism and Vietravel have coordinated activities, from surveying to ensuring safe tourism products. Cần Giờ, being one of the city’s “green zones”, has started to welcome tourists with green cards.
“We have prepared to kick off the market in October and reopen business operations at its headquarters and branches nationwide. The company now focuses on developing products that serve locals’ staycation. In the next stage, the company will push connectivity among provinces via sets of tourism products that tourists can enjoy,” a representative of Vietravel said.
“Number of customers have been asking for tours and planning to book tours after HCM City announced the reopening plan after October 1”, Tran Bao Thu, the communication director of Fiditour said.
“Most popular destinations that customers are keen on at the moment are Can Gio, Cu Chi and Phu Quoc. This is a positive sign that HCMC will soon be vibrant again, step by step back to normal life,” she added.
