HCM CITY— Famous singer Đông Nhi of HCM City represented Việt Nam on the international stage as part of the online ASEAN Japan Music Festival 2021 streamed on YouTube on June 5 and 6.
For the event, Nhi shared her two viral MVs, Giả Vờ Say (Drunk in Love) and Hôm Nay Mình Cưới (We’re Maried Today), which were produced by 6th Sense Entertainment. The productions feature themes about love and women.
While Giả Vờ Say, released in late 2018, has attracted 7.3 million views, Hôm Nay Mình Cưới released in 2019 has had more than 5.8 million views.
The MV Hôm Nay Mình Cưới includes beautiful images of Phú Quốc Island, one of the country’s most famous tourist destinations.
Nhi’s MVs appeared alongside fellow singers from Brunei, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia.
“I hope my music will bring people together in the COVID-19 pandemic as the festival should be organised online,” Nhi said before her performance was streamed.

Nhi first performed at the festival in Tokyo in 2018.
She sang new songs from her third album released in December 2018 to celebrate her 10-year singing career.
She danced with nón lá (Vietnamese conical hat) on stage, leaving a strong impression on audiences.
Nhi, whose real name is Mai Hồng Ngọc, began her music career in 2008 after releasing teen-pop songs Khóc (Cry), Bối Rối (Embarrassment) and Bí Mật Của Hạnh Phúc (Secret of Happiness).
One year later, she released her first album The First Step, which was named one of the Top 10 Albums of the Year at the 2010 Zing Music Awards 2010.
She has released four albums and several singles, many of them hits, and has appeared in many music reality shows as a competitor or mentor.
She was one of four coaches for the reality music shows The Voice Kid Vietnam in 2016 and the Voice Vietnam in 2017.
Nhi won the Best Asian Artist title at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in 2015, and Best Southeast Asian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2016.
In 2017, she represented Việt Nam at the Asia Song Festival at Busan Asiad Main Stadium in Busan, South Korea. Her performances were warmly received by Korean singers and audiences.— VNS
