The Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control (HCDC) on Tuesday morning reported two more Covid-19 cases at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.
The new patients are all men that also work as baggage handlers at the airport.
The first case working for Vietnam Airport Ground Services Ltd (VIAGS), in the same team with 5 confirmed cases. The second case is a staff of Vietnam Airlines, working in the same team with cases 1979, local news outlet reported.
This morning, February 9, Vietnam confirmed three new cases of Covid-19 in the northern province of Quang Ninh, bringing the total number of patients to 2,053, Vietnamnet reported.
The three locally-transmitted cases include:
Patient 2051, a 34-year-old woman, a resident of Dong Trieu Town, Quang Ninh, who is a worker of POYUN Co., Ltd. – a company based in Chi Linh City of Hai Duong province, the country’s larget hotspot. The woman has been under quarantined since January 29.
Patient 2052 is a 61-year-old man, also a resident in Dong Trieu town. The authorities are conducting epidemiological investigation on this case.
Patient 2053 is a 60-year-old woman, who is patient 2052’s wife.
All three patients had positive test results on February 8. They are now isolated and treated at Vietnam-Sweden Hospital in Uong Bi district of Quang Ninh province.
By the morning of February 9, Vietnam had a total of 2,053 cases of Covid-19, including 1,163 domestically-transmitted cases.
According to the Treatment Sub-committee under the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, 1,472 COVID-19 patients have recovered.
Among the patients still under treatment, 16 have tested negative for the virus one, seven twice, and five thrice. Thirty-five died from complications related to the disease.
There are 89,782 people who had close contact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit regions are under quarantine at present, including 529 at hospitals, 19,789 at other quarantine sites and 69,374 at home.
