The National Steering Committee for Cyber Safety and Security made its debut and convened its 1st meeting in Ha Noi on Tuesday under the chair of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc who lead the Committee.
The meeting saw the attendance of three deputy heads of the Committee, namely Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, and Minister of Public Security To Lam.
The Committee reviewed cyber safety and security situation and commented on its work plans for 2020 and 2021 and the next five years, Vietnam government portal (VGP) reported.
The participants also gave opinions on several other issues.
Concluding the meeting, PM Phuc tasked members of the Committee and the Ministry of Public Security as the standing agency of the Committee, and relevant ministries and agencies to expeditiously take measures to protect cyber safety and security as the country is preparing for the organization of the 13th National Party Congress and the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and deputies to the People’s Council at all levels for the tenure 2021-2026.
The Government chief requested provinces and centrally-run cities to quickly establish their own subcommittee for cyber safety and security.
He also named several tasks that must be carried out immediately to meet the requirements of the current situation, accoding to VGP.
