HÀ NỘI – More than 1,000 books have been granted to the communal library at Đồng Tâm Commune, Mỹ Đức District in Hà Nội to mark the big anniversaries of the capital this month.
The Department of Libraries under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism worked with Tân Việt Culture and Education Company and Alpha Books Company to host this event.
The books are on subjects including science, history, soft skills, dictionaries and reference work. Together with the school library in the commune, the new library will create a good place for people and students to read and gain more knowledge. Readers will have the chance to enjoy important literary works and build a habit of reading.
The new library is built in response to Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc’s direction to develop reading culture in communities.
Vũ Dương Thúy Ngà, director of the department, encouraged people to visit the library.
“Many books and newspapers are available for local people,” she said. “We suggest that the local government pay attention to developing a reading culture and continue investing to enrich the library.”
After the incident that left four people dead earlier this year, Đồng Tâm Commune is changing day by day. Six defendants who demonstrated a clear motive and intention to murder have been sentenced. — VNS
