University of Economy HCMC launched the introduction of UEH – ISCM Institute of Smart City and Management to global community Tuesday morning.
UHE introduced the Institute of Smart Cities and Management (ISCM) to more than 20 management, education and business entities in the fields of economics, management, urbanism, transport and environment in Asia, Europe and U.S… The event was held in the global event series “Shaping the Unknown Future Toward Smart City” to introduce smart city training programs with the aim to being well prepared for the future of technology in urban living.
Professor – Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, Chairman of UEH School Council, shared: “According to the UEH’s multi-disciplinary development orientation, the Institute of Smart Cities and Management will become a smart city training and research institute where technology and critical thinking become powerful tools to solve urban problems for the disruptive future. Therefore, I believe that ISCM-UEH and our partners will contribute to improving the quality of education and urban life towards a smart and sustainable urban development through 3 activities including integrated education, research and development (R&D) and solving practical problems through projects.
Dr. Trinh Tu Anh – Director of the ISCM shared that ISCM-UEH aims to develop education integrated with research and real projects. Accordingly, the institute will connect universities, stakeholders and creative students in different fields to propose solutions that contribute to solving urban problems in an existing resource effectively by technology.
There are 5 areas of expertise in the ISCM including Smart Management, Smart Planning, Smart Design, Smart Traffic and Integrated Applications. The Master of Smart City and Innovation Management (Master of Smart City and Innovation Management) program is an associate master’s program with dual degrees from KU Leuven universities, Belgium; Handong Global University, Korea and Hasselt university, Belgium. University program is specialized in “Urban Design” (Architectural and Urban Design), the program is accredited by international standards, program development co – teaching with schools and multi design companies country from Europe, America, Australia and Asia.
Students can practice and work at home and abroad in these programs. They can also experience the Modern Smart Urban Studio – Lab System which is open studio-labintegrating multi-function for research – teaching – project implementation on design – planning as well as testing urban simulation, VR, AR application, 3D printing, gameization … during studying in these program.
ISCM was established in May 2020 at 232/6 Vo Thi Sau, Ward 7, District 3, City. HCM City. The Institute has implemented many activities connecting more than 40 leading experts and professors, leaders, universities, companies, public and non-governmental organizations around the world.
At the event, ISCM-UEH also awarded four teams for the first international competition “City of the Future: Smart Design for the Post-Pandemic World”. This post-pandemic-themed contest attracted 400 students at universities around the world to show their ideas of the future urban post-pandemic.
