Korean and American tourists in the group coming to Vietnam to celebrate New Year’s Eve are the most numerous and prioritize destinations including Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and Nha Trang.
Data from online travel platform Agoda shows that Vietnam has become a popular destination for international travelers during the New Year’s Eve 2025. The number of international searches for accommodation in Vietnam has increased by 30% compared to the same period last year, proving the attractiveness of Vietnam to international visitors. The data was analyzed based on searches between November 1-27 with an expected check-in date of December 31.
South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan and the US are the top five tourist markets choosing Vietnam this time of year. Ho Chi Minh City is the top destination thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and brilliant fireworks display on the Saigon River, marking the moment of entering the new year. Phu Quoc has risen to second place, up three places from last year. Meanwhile, Da Nang, Hanoi and Nha Trang continue to be the favorite destinations of international tourists.
Looking at each market separately, Korean tourists prioritize Nha Trang, Da Nang and Phu Quoc; Japanese tourists choose Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang; Thai tourists choose Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Phu Quoc; Taiwanese tourists like Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc and Hanoi while American tourists prioritize Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat.
According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Director of Agoda in Vietnam, the unique combination of unique culture, vibrant lifestyle and natural landscapes helps Vietnam quickly become an attractive destination for international tourists.
“It could be every corner of bustling Ho Chi Minh City or simply a relaxing trip on the peaceful beaches of Phu Quoc,” he said.
Agoda’s statistics also show the trend of domestic tourists during the New Year 2025 with international destinations being Bangkok, Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore, Hong Kong. Domestically, Vietnamese tourists love Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Vung Tau, Hanoi and Nha Trang.
