Vietnam ranks second among the most popular travel destinations for South Korean tourists during the Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Chuseok in the Northeast Asian country.
A recent survey by the Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) revealed that an increasing number of South Koreans are planning to travel abroad during the Chuseok holiday.
The two most popular travel destinations are Japan and Vietnam. Factors affecting South Korean tourists’ destination choices include short flight distances, favorable exchange rates, and affordable costs.

The survey, conducted from August 1 to 7, involved 1,270 people aged 18 and above who had traveled through Incheon Airport in the past five years.
According to the survey, 11.2% of respondents expressed plans to travel abroad during the holiday. This is the highest percentage recorded since the first survey was conducted in 2020. The figures for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 were 1.9%, 2%, 3.2%, and 9.3%, respectively.
IIAC estimates that an average of 201,000 passengers will pass through Incheon Airport each day during this year’s Chuseok holiday, which runs from September 13 to 18.
