The total investment for these two projects is estimated at approximately 19 trillion VND, sourced from the medium-term public investment fund for the 2026-2031 period.
The Railway Department has identified several limitations with the current railway line through Hai Van Pass, such as tight curves and steep gradients, which restrict train speeds. Additionally, the railway passing through the city center contributes to traffic congestion and diminishes the urban landscape.
According to the plan, the railway sector will invest in constructing a new Hai Van tunnel and relocating the entire railway line in Da Nang out of the city center.
The railway development plan until 2050 includes relocating Da Nang Station to the west and upgrading the existing railway line to run parallel to the highway, creating a corridor for future high-speed rail.
Moreover, the railway sector will also invest in building a modern freight station in the Kim Lien area to enhance connectivity with Lien Chieu Port, addressing the increasing demand for freight transportation. This project aims to alleviate congestion and technical limitations on the Vinh – Nha Trang railway line.
