In the past seven months, Vietnam has solidified its position as a leading destination in the region, attracting 10 million international tourists, with 76% coming from Asia.
With the launch of new and appealing tourism products, enhanced service quality, and active overseas promotion activities, it is estimated that around 10 million international visitors have visited Vietnam in the past seven months. Moreover, several emerging markets are also witnessing significant growth.
This impressive growth figure represents a 51% increase compared to the same period last year. Among these visitors, Asian tourists accounted for 7.6 million, with South Korea and China leading the way.
Vietnam’s close geographical proximity, beautiful natural conditions, and cultural similarities make it a favored destination for tourists from these countries.
International tourists have many compliments for Vietnam’s beautiful natural landscape.
Peng Men Cai, a tourist from China, expressed: “Vietnam has many attractions for me. First, its geography—Vietnam is close to China. Secondly, the cuisine here is truly enticing. I also really like your traditional clothing, like the shirt Ao dai or the conical hat. Vietnamese women look very beautiful in ao dai. I will definitely return to Vietnam many times.”
India has also emerged as a promising market for Vietnam’s tourism industry. According to statistics, Indian tourists to Vietnam have increased by 248% compared to the same period in 2019. Ramraj Kumar, a tourist from India, said: “I saw some videos about landmarks in Vietnam on social media. They were so beautiful that I wanted to see them in person, so I came to Vietnam.”
Mr. Lorda, another tourist from India, noted: “In my community, many people come here in groups of 40, 80, or 100 people. The name Vietnam is becoming popular, and everyone talks only about Vietnam.”
In addition to favorable visa policies, diplomatic activities, cultural exchanges, and tourism promotion abroad have yielded very positive results. Travel service businesses report that after these promotional activities, foreign partners have significantly increased their interest in sending tourists to Vietnam.
Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of Da Nang City’s Department of Tourism, stated: “In the near future, we will actively resume promoting flights to mainland China. In the third quarter, we have a promotional program in Guangzhou and will also connect with cruise ship programs from China.”
With a series of tourism promotion activities in key markets and the upcoming peak season for international tourism in the last months of the year, Vietnam’s tourism industry is confident in achieving the goal of welcoming 17-18 million international visitors this year.
