HCM CITY – UK Festival, an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom and Việt Nam and the 30th year of the British Council operating in the country, will be organised in HCM City on Saturday.
During the event, a series of cultural activities will be organised to celebrate the rich tapestry of the UK – Việt Nam partnership as well as UK culture and arts.
In addition, the festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the United Kingdom’s contributions and deep connection with Việt Nam.
Visiting the festival, which is organised on Lê Lợi Street in District 1, students and parents will have an opportunity to learn about available scholarships at over 20 renowned British universities and institutions.
In addition, booths at the festival will also show an array of British products hailing from popular brands in retail, healthcare, and financial services.
Visitors can also find out more information of leading projects and technologies in renewable energy that reflect the commitment of both nations to a greener, more sustainable future.
Adding to the festivities, the UK Festival will feature two special reading sessions by British Ambassador to Việt Nam Iain Frew and British Consul General in HCM City Emily Hamblin. The books chosen are popular among Vietnamese children, including Peppa Pig and Harry Potter.
“The UK and Việt Nam are closer than ever, and with relations at an all-time high with so much potential for the years ahead. This remarkable UK Festival in Việt Nam serves as a bridge between our two nations, celebrating 50 years of enduring friendship and collaboration,” said British Consul General in HCM City Emily Hamblin.
The event also includes an opportunity to meet Liverpool FC legend Glen Johnson, which promises to capture the attention of English Premier League fans in general and Liverpool FC fans in particular.
In the realm of music and entertainment, the UK festival boasts an exceptional line-up. A music night will be held with a performance by the legendary 911 band and Vietnamese artists including Chillies and Vũ Thanh Vân as well as talented DJs Psycho and MinDaniel.
After festivities in HCM City on September 16, the event will come to Đà Nẵng on October 16.
