HÀ NỘI — Miss Grand International 2021, Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên, is planning to travel to Angola in mid-July to launch the project to provide fresh water to local people.
Tiên said that the project is a part of the targets she set when she was crowned at the international beauty pageant. She will sponsor the construction of two wells for villagers in Zamba, Bailundo and Huambo in Angola.
Located in the south of Africa, Angola faces many natural disadvantages. A year-round drought has caused serious water shortages that have consequently led to many problematic issues like paralysed agricultural sector, mass death of livestock and a shortage of food. The issues are particularly serious in Huambo.
“That is the reason why I decided to build two wells of fresh water in Zamba, Bailundo and Huambo, with the aim of improving the local life by providing sufficient fresh water to over 300 households in the region,” Tiên wrote on her Facebook.
She plans to launch many other meaningful activities for locals, particularly children.
Tiên revealed that the volunteer trip to Angola is not simply to fulfil the mission of Miss Grand International 2021 but also to promote the image of the kind heart of the Vietnamese people.
She hopes to have more opportunities to travel to many countries around the world to support more disadvantaged people and spread love, like the promise she made the moment she was crowned as Miss Grand International 2021.

Six months after winning the title, the 24-year-old beauty has conducted many charity projects both at home and abroad. She has travelled thousands of kilometres to launch the construction of playgrounds for children in the northern mountainous province of Cao Bằng or HCM City’s Củ Chi District. She has also contributed to the fund to support women’s financial development and adopted orphaned children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tiên travelled to South America in March to join charity activities, such as presenting kitchen utensils and food for the poor on the outskirts of Peru’s capital, Lima. VNS
