The authorities of Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa province, have suspended operations of the Tram Anh Chicken Rice restaurant, located at 10 Ba Trieu after over 100 people were hospitalized with suspected food poisoning. Among those affected, were foreign tourists and children. Dr. Tran Phuong Thao, the deputy director of Saigon Nha Trang General Hospital, said that more than half of the cases are still being treated at the hospital.
Ms. Ly Na, a tourist from Lam Dong province, said that after eating chicken rice at the restaurant, her entire family showed signs of suspected poisoning. Her 5-year-old daughter is one of the most severe cases, with a high fever and other symptoms.
The authorities are investigating to determine the cause of the poisoning. The chicken rice restaurant has been temporarily closed, and samples of the food and patients have been taken for testing. The Khanh Hoa Department of Health is mobilizing resources to rescue and treat patients, while also transferring severe cases to higher-level hospitals. Medical facilities are consulting with the Khanh Hoa Provincial Hospital for complicated cases.
At present, the cause of the poisoning remains unknown, and the Tram Anh chicken rice restaurant will remain temporarily closed until the investigation is complete.
