The authorities of Vietnam’s capital city have proposed the further suspension of domestic flights and trains to the city for Covid-19 prevention.
The proposal was sent to the Ministry of Transport by the municipal people’s committee on Tuesday following the ministry’s plan to resume domestic flights and train services in certain localities with relaxed coronavirus restrictions starting October, local media reported.
Hanoi has basically brought Covid-19 under control after days of tight social distancing. However, the pandemic remains complicated in many southern localities, posing a high risk of Covid-19 resurfacing, according to the Hanoi People’s Committee.

The committee has asked the Ministry of Transport to continue suspending train services and domestic flights to Noi Bai International Airport in the city, except for special cases to serve Covid-19 prevention and control activities, public missions or licensed goods transportation.
Earlier, at a recent online meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Covid-19 fight, Nguyen Van Phong, vice chairman of the Hanoi expressed his concerns about risks for Covid-19 infection, particularly after crowds poured out onto local streets for the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations last week. This was also a big lesson for the capital city in Covid-19 prevention and control activities, Nguyen Van Phong admitted.

The Hanoi official also expected that the capital would receive more Covid-19 vaccines to ensure the second jab for local residents in the coming time.
The data showed, Hanoi has recorded 3,971 Covid-19 cases including 1,601 locally-infected patients since late April when the fourth Covid-19 wave hit the country.
