Fact: Work is not life.
It will never be.
You weren’t born to just work.
To just provide for yourself and your family.
Yes, work pays the bills.
But you don’t have to devote all your time to just working.
Because in the long run, you’ll realize that you’ve missed a lot of things that truly mattered more while you were busy earning a living.
Allow me to share with you the 5 things far more important than work.
1.) Your happiness
Every single day that you choose to suffer in silence is a day that’s wasted. Choose to pursue what makes you truly happy. It’s ok to spend 8 hours or less at work. But never forget to go for what makes your heart sing and whatever it is that puts a smile on your face. When you reach old age, trust me, your work and deadlines won’t be the ones you would fondly look back at.
2.) Your loved ones
Family, friends, your significant others…they probably have been with you even before you got too busy with work. Don’t ever trade the once in a life time opportunity to create beautiful, lasting memories with people who matter the most. As they say, you can easily be replaced at work when the going gets tough, but your loved ones will stay and still celebrate you along the way.
3.) Your health and well-being
No amount of money can bring back your health once it has deteriorated fully. So always make it a point to have enough time for self-love and self-care. Exercise, eat healthy, think positively and do away with anything (or anyone) that stresses you, work included. Let me put this candidly: if you’re not healthy, you can’t work on being wealthy. So focus on what matters more.
4.) Your purpose and fulfillment
How different will your life be now if you actually spent less time doing over time work and more time in pursuing your greatest goals in life? Don’t let your work define you. Be the person you’re meant to be, your own #bestmeever . Give yourself the time, space and permission to chase your dreams and make them come true. Never too late to finally live a childhood dream, pursue a new career or travel the world and spread good vibes and inspiration. It’s a matter of choice. In this case, yours.
5.) Your self-growth
You are the best investment you can ever make. So focus on giving yourself what you willingly give to your work: time, effort and a whole lot of commitment. You deserve it. Learn a new skill, attend that workshop, join an online community of like-minded individuals who can support you and your growth fully. Don’t ever feel guilty when you put yourself (your growth and happiness included) first.
I hope these will help you clock out earlier today at work to enjoy the life you fully want and deserve.
That is the most important thing, after all.
