On the morning of March 18, the Ministry of Health continued to announce a new case of Covid-19, bringing the total number of cases in Vietnam to 68 cases.
On March 18, Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang received two test samples sent by the Da Nang City Center for Disease Control with the reason of determining results for suspected positive with SARS-CoV-2, one of the two submitted samples showed positive results, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients in Vietnam to 68 patients.
“Patient 68” is a 41-year-old American citizen. He married a Vietnamese located in Da Nang.
He has been traveling abroad since February 11 through numerous countries such as India, Spain, Morocco, Switzerland, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands.

At 11:25 AM on March 13, he took flight SQ323, seat 57H from Amsterdam (Netherlands) and landed at Singapore at 5:55 am on March 14.
At 9:15 AM on March 14, he flew from Singapore to Danang City on flight MI 632, seat 15F, landed at Danang International Airport at 11:00 AM on March 14.
Da Nang International Airport conducted temporary isolation in the quarantine area at the border gate and continued to exploit information and transfer “Patient 68” to the 199 Hospital of the Ministry of Public Security at 14:00 PM on March 14.
Pasteur Institute of Nha Trang tested and confirmed the positive result of SARS-CoV-2 at 9:10 AM on March 18.
Up to now, Vietnam has 68 Covid-19 infection cases, of which 16 cases were discharged.
