Fish sour soup, mussel rice, La Vong grilled fish, dried squid, crab stir-fried vermicelli, jellyfish noodles… are representatives of Vietnam listed among the “Best Southeast Asian Seafood Dishes” according to TasteAtlas.
The global culinary advisory site TasteAtlas (headquartered in Zagreb, Croatia) announces a list of the 84 best seafood dishes in Southeast Asia.
TasteAtlas experts conducted surveys on many street foods with rich local flavors to create this high-quality list.
Vietnam is honored to have up to 18 dishes featured in the “handbook.” Among them, fish sour soup is ranked second in the prestigious magazine’s list.

TasteAtlas wrote that the term “fish sour soup” generally refers to various Vietnamese fish soups, characterized by a combination of sweet, spicy, and sour flavors.
“The soups are often cooked with tamarind or pineapple broth, tomatoes, okra, bean sprouts, or other vegetables,” TasteAtlas noted.
The renowned magazine revealed that most of these soups use catfish, but there are also versions with carp, eel, and salmon. These soups are often garnished with cilantro and served with rice.

Vietnamese dishes such as sun-dried squid, crab noodle soup, jellyfish salad, mussel rice, and crab stir-fried vermicelli also received high praise for their flavor and creativity from TasteAtlas experts and readers.
Established in 2015, TasteAtlas is known as a map gathering traditional dishes from around the world.
According to Matija Babić, the founder of TasteAtlas, the rankings of food and beverages are based on the opinions and evaluations of experts and food critics to ensure the reliability of the awards.
