Vietnam confirmed an additional 10,040 Covid-19 infections on Sunday and 9,137 more patients recovered from the diseases the same day, Ministry of Health reported
According to the health ministry, 10,025 of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 33 localities including HCM City (5,496), Binh Duong (2,332), Dong Nai (953), An Giang (287), Long An (249), Kien Giang (151), and Tien Giang (102). There were 15 imported patients confirmed Sunday.

The new infection number showed an increase of 665 cases compared to yesterday’s figure. There were 5,894 infections found in the community.
As of Sunday evening, 682,617 infections have been reported since the new outbreak occurred in the country in late April, with some southern localities recording high infections such as HCM City (336,528), Binh Duong (178,295), Dong Nai (39,973), Long An (30,328), and Tien Giang (13,059). The outbreak has so far spread to 62 out of 63 cities and provinces nationwide.
With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 687,063. The country now stands 47th among 222 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections.

On September 19, an additional 9,137 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 457,505.
On Sunday evening, a further 233 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 17,090. The deaths were reported in some localities including HCM City (182), Binh Duong (31), Long An (9), An Giang (3), Binh Thuan (2), Tien Giang (2), Khanh Hoa (1), Kien Giang (1), Quang Binh (1), Tay Ninh (1).
The country has so far conducted over 34.09 million Covid-19 vaccine shots, with over 6.51 million people having received two doses, Dan Tri Newspaper reported.
