Two Vietnamese returning from Japan and the U.S. brought the country’s active Covid-19 case tally to 121, the Health Ministry said Monday evening.
“Patient 1282” is a 27-year-old resident of Quang Tri Province. She landed at the Van Don Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN311 from Japan last Saturday and was quarantined in Quang Ninh Province upon arrival.
She is being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases 2 in Hanoi after her test result Sunday confirmed she contracted the novel coronavirus.
“Patient 1283” is a 23-year-old man of Ho Chi Minh City. He traveled from the U.S. to Japan on All Nippon Airways flight NH5, landed at the Da Nang International Airport on Vietnam Airlines flight VN311 on November 8 and was sent to quarantine in the central city.
His third test result came back Monday showed he was positive for the virus. He is being treated at the Da Nang Lung Hospital in Da Nang.
With the two latest cases, Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally stands at 1,283. The national Covid-19 death toll remains at 35.
Vietnam has gone 74 days without community transmission of the virus.
Also on Monday, the health ministry declared 21 people free of Covid-19, raising the recoveries total to 1,124. More than 15,000 people are in quarantine nationwide.
Worldwide, over 54 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded thus far, with the death toll exceeding 1.3 million.
