The number of searches for accommodation in Vietnam by European tourists has surged this summer.
According to Agoda, Vietnam is the third fastest-growing destination in Asia for European tourists based on accommodation searches (for bookings with check-ins in July and August). Specifically, in April, Malaysia recorded an 89% increase in searches. Japan ranked second with a 71% growth compared to last year. Vietnam stood third, registering a 66% increase in searches from European tourists compared to the same period last year.
In Vietnam, the three most searched destinations by European tourists are Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, and Nha Trang. The highest number of searches for Vietnam came from tourists in France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain.
International tourists are very interested in Vietnam
Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam, shared: “The increase in travel searches for Vietnam compared to last year reflects the growing appeal of Vietnam to European tourists. It’s wonderful to see more European travelers choosing Vietnam as their summer vacation destination.”
Asian destinations continue to attract many tourists, including Europeans, due to the rich variety of travel experiences they offer.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the total number of international visitors in the first four months of 2024 reached 6.2 million, an increase of 68.3% compared to the same period in 2023. The number of international visitors also exceeded the pre-pandemic level by 3.9%, indicating a strong recovery and growth in Vietnam’s tourism market.
In terms of market size, South Korea remains the largest source market for Vietnam with 1.6 million visitors (accounting for 25.8%). European markets also continued to grow strongly by 63.8%, thanks to the effective visa policies implemented since mid-August 2023. Most markets are very positive, with key markets such as the UK increasing by 35.2%, France by 41.7%, and Germany by 36.9%.
