Vietnam’s local Covid tally up by 158, raising the infection tally of the country’s ongoing wave to 8,569.
The new patients were recorded in seven localities, according to local media VNExpress.
In northern Bac Giang Province, 87 cases are related to hotspots at industrial parks and have all been isolated prior to their test results.
Ho Chi Minh City recorded 45 cases: 29 have had contact with previously confirmed Covid-19 patients, 14 linked to a cluster that emerged from a church in Go Vap District and for the other two, the source of transmission is not yet clear.
Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang Province registered 11 patients with 10 associated with a cluster in My Hanh Dong Commune in Cai Lay Town and one having contact with a Covid-19 case.
Binh Duong Province that borders HCMC confirmed seven cases of people who had had contact with Covid-19 cases.
The northern Bac Ninh Province recorded six cases, with five related to hotspots at industrial parks and one linked to a cluster at Dai Phuc Ward in Bac Ninh Town.
The one case in the northern Lang Son Province is related to the cluster at Quang Chau industrial park in Bac Giang, while the case in the central Ha Tinh Province had had direct contact with a Covid-19 patient.
Vietnam has recorded local infections in 40 cities and provinces so far in the new wave that started in late April.
Bac Giang has the highest infection with 4,767, followed by Bac Ninh with 1,448 cases and HCMC with 1,105.
