With six new community transmission cases confirmed Monday evening, Vietnam’s Covid-19 count rose to 1,022, with active cases at 406.
“Patient 1017” is a 68-year-old resident of Ngu Hanh Son District in Da Nang. Her samples were tested after she shopped at the Ha Than Market in Son Tra District.
“Patient 1018” is a 57-year-old male medical staff at the Da Nang Hospital, one of the central city’s Covid-19 hotspots.
“Patient 1019”, 37, is a female medical staff at the same hospital. She had been quarantined at a hotel in the city since August 5 as medical staff of the hospital awaited Covid-19 test results after infections were detected at their workplace.
“Patient 1020” is a 26-year-old resident of Hoa Vang District in Da Nang. He had came into contact with a person who was later identified as “Patient 996”.
“Patient 1021”, a resident of the northern town of Hai Duong in the eponymous province, is the eight-year-old child of a man tagged as “Patient 1016”.
The mother of “Patient 1016” also became “Patient 1022” Monday. The 63-year-old woman lives in the same town as her grandson.
On Monday, Vietnam discharged 20 patients declared free of the novel coronavirus. Of the 20 discharged, 13 are in Da Nang, six in Hanoi and one in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam has recorded 680 local transmissions so far, of these 540 related to Da Nang, now the country’s outbreak epicenter, have been recorded since July 25.
The country has confirmed 1,022 Covid-19 cases, with 27 deaths.
