The Vietnam Business Summit (VBS) will be held within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang early next month.
Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vu Tien Loc told a room of reporters on October 9 when talking about business events during the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week scheduled from November 6-11.
Conferences will include the fourth APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) from November 4 to 6, the Vietnam Business Summit, the APEC Business Summit, and a dialogue between ABAC and APEC leaders.
VCCI chairman said the conference will discuss the future of APEC’s economy and gather together leading enterprises from the bloc’s 21 economies.
Key issues on the agenda include the future of globalization, rural development, small and medium-sized enterprises starting business, and global value chains.
Mr. Loc added that VCCI has proposed holding the APEC Business Summit on November 7, with the theme “Vietnam – Trusted Business Partner”, introducing innovation for sustainable development in Vietnam and the country as a friendly investment destination.
Within the framework of the conference will be symposiums on sustainable and smart agriculture, finance for development, health and education, and startups.
It will be held in conjunction with a trade promotion and investment conference involving Vietnam’s 63 cities and provinces. Mr. Loc affirmed that after the APEC Summit, a major international trade and investment promotion conference will be held annually in Vietnam.
As part of APEC 2017 events, VCCI also proposed hosting the APEC Start-up Forum and gained a positive response from APEC members. Initiatives to set up an APEC startup network of Vietnam were highly regarded by APEC members.
ABAC Chairman Hoang Van Dung said it had submitted recommendations to the APEC 2017 Summit on enhancing the development of trade liberalization, increasing the attractiveness of investment in the Asia-Pacific region, strengthening connectivity, prioritizing the development of digital infrastructure, creating connections between people, and further strengthening public-private partnerships to mobilize capital and experience in the private sector.
In terms of sustainable development, ABAC promotes innovative enterprise models, facilities small business’s access to finance, and encourages entrepreneurship.
“ABAC highly appreciates APEC Vietnam 2017 and hopes to have many initiatives to create the most favorable business environment for the regional business community towards sustainable development,” Mr. Dung said.
