The annual awards ceremony for the 50 best restaurants in Asia took place in Seoul, South Korea, on the evening of March 26, with Sézanne (Tokyo, Japan) ranking first for the first time, and the sole representative from Vietnam appearing at number 48.
Taking the second spot was Florilège, also in Tokyo, along with Gaggan Anand’s restaurant in Bangkok rounding out the top 3.
In the special awards category, Hong Kong chef Danny Yip of The Chair (top 5) received the Icon award, while Pichaya “Pam” Soontornyanakij from Thailand won the award for the best female chef. Her restaurant Potong climbed from 35th to 17th place.

Appearing at position 48 is the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City – Anan Saigon, located on Ton That Dam Street, District 1, in the Old Market area right in the city center, managed by Vietnamese chef Peter Cuong Franklin.
“Chef Peter Cuong Franklin, a pioneer of modern Vietnamese cuisine and one of the most prominent figures in the country’s burgeoning culinary scene, introduced Anan Saigon to showcase local dishes, with a particular focus on street food. Chef Cuong draws inspiration from his mother, who once ran a small noodle shop in Da Lat. The restaurant has been honored as the best restaurant in Vietnam for the second consecutive year,” the award’s information page noted.
