On March 11, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Wellington, New Zealand, for an official visit. In the afternoon, he met with President of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from the National Assembly and the people of New Zealand. He also conveyed greetings and congratulations from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and other Vietnamese leaders to Gerry Brownlee.
Brownlee expressed satisfaction with the strong relationship between the two countries and their cooperation in various fields. The leaders agreed to work together on labor cooperation and education and training, and Brownlee promised to promote long-term visas for Vietnamese citizens.
The leaders agreed to increase exchanges and experiences between friendly committees and parliamentary groups of the two National Assemblies, along with female and young parliamentarians. They also discussed supporting each other at international organizations, including the United Nations and mechanisms led by ASEAN, multilateral parliamentary forums.
Finally, the Prime Minister proposed that the two countries continue to increase the exchange of visits, especially high-level visits. He suggested creating opportunities for specialty fruits to enter each other’s markets and strengthening maritime and aviation connections. Both sides agreed on promoting cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
