The Asean (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Film Week 2020 kicked off on Saturday in Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi, introducing the featured works of the cinema industries of the bloc’s member countries.
As the Asean Chair 2020, Vietnam will host the film week from July 18 to July 26, during which several ASEAN movies will be screened.

According to a report by Vietnam News Agency, movies of nine ASEAN member countries will be screened in cinemas in three major Vietnamese cities of Hanoi, central Da Nang and southern Ho Chi Minh City.
Established in 1967, the Asean groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
During the week, films from each Asean member will be introduced, including Ranggau, Thousand Incarnations of Brunei, Young Love of Cambodia, Aruna Dan Lidahnya of Indonesia, and Expiration Date of Laos, Ejen Ali the Movie of Malaysia, Women of the Weeping River of the Philippines, The Wayang Kids of Singapore and App War of Thailand.
Vietnam’s film titled Hanh Phuc Cua Mẹ (Mother’s happiness) that won the Golden Kite Award will be screened at the opening ceremony.
The regional event will be organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as part of celebrations to mark the country’s 2020 Asean Chairmanship.
Tickets are distributed for free at the screening locations, the Vietnam News reported.
