
The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) said that the Vietnamese team excellently won the first place in the entire team in the 9th Southeast Asian Karate season.
The event took place from March 25 to 27 at the Karate Training Center of the Royal University of Phnom Penh, with the participation of 121 boxers from Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and host country Cambodia.
As a result, Vietnam Karate Team won 5 gold medals (HCV), 5 silver medals (HCB) and 3 bronze medals (bronze). Behind Vietnam are the Indonesian teams with 5 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals respectively, Malaysia with 5 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals respectively.
Meanwhile, Cambodia finished fourth and Thailand finished fifth.
With the participation of a large number of boxers from 9 countries, the tournament is considered an important stepping stone for teams in the region to rub, test the effectiveness of training, and evaluate the level of boxers before on the eve of the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games.
At the 30th SEA Games in the Philippines, the Vietnam Karate team ranked third in the entire team with 2 gold medals, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals, behind Thailand and Malaysia.
