HCM CITY — The spring flower market “Trên bến dưới thuyền” in District 8 has officially opened and attracted many locals on the first day.
The spring flower market is located along Bình Đông Wharf and Nguyễn Văn Của Street in District 8.
About 500 gardeners from the provinces of Bến Tre, Tiền Giang, Vĩnh Long, Long An and Đồng Tháp have participated this year.

In addition to selling flowers, organisers of the event have installed food stalls, decorative Tết displays and prepared traditional singing and dancing performances for visitors.
The art performances will take place between January 28 and January 30.
According to deputy chairwoman of District 8 People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Thu Hoa, besides chưng or tét cakes, flowers are essential when it comes to Tết.

“Flowers do not only help decorate one’s house, but they also hold specific meanings, which will bring good luck, fortune and wealth for a happy new year.”
Sơn Thị Tú Uyên, a resident of District 8, told Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) newspaper that she went to the market with her friends and they took many beautiful photographs together. “Tết is just around the corner,” she added. — VNS
