Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC), a key Taiwanese supplier for SpaceX, is now manufacturing routers and networking equipment for Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet at its facility in Ha Nam province, Vietnam.
This expansion highlights the growing role of Vietnam in the global supply chain for advanced satellite and networking technology.
Universal Microwave Technology, another prominent SpaceX supplier and component manufacturer, invested in a new factory in Vietnam earlier this year, as confirmed by company documents. Shenmao Technology, a supplier of solder for printed circuit boards used in SpaceX projects, announced in April an investment of $5 million to establish a production facility in Vietnam, further strengthening the region’s role in the aerospace sector.
Industry sources indicate that SpaceX has encouraged its partners to expand in Vietnam, with “geopolitical considerations” cited as a key factor. Chin-Poon Industrial, a manufacturer of satellite components and another SpaceX partner, confirmed that SpaceX requested it to shift production of new orders from Taiwan to Thailand, underlining the strategic decisions being made by companies to align with evolving global dynamics.
