New Zealand and Vietnam pledged to continue tightening agricultural and trade cooperation between the two countries at the second New Zealand – Vietnam High-Level Agricultural Dialogue .
At the dialogue, Mr. Ray Smith and Mr. Le Quoc Doanh affirmed that promoting cooperation and expanding connections in the agricultural sector between the two countries is the key key to realizing the goal of striving Two-way trade turnover will reach 2 billion USD by 2024.

Mr. Ray Smith also said that New Zealand hopes to soon complete import licensing procedures for some fruits of the two countries so that Vietnamese consumers can soon enjoy New Zealand’s strawberries and squash, and at the same time, New Zealanders will soon see Vietnamese lemons and grapefruits on store shelves in New Zealand.
Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh said that currently, agencies between the two countries are negotiating a quarantine agreement to export green lemons and pomelos.
In the coming time, it is hoped that the plant protection agencies of the two countries will expedite procedures to open the market for Vietnamese oranges, tangerines and longans, Mr. Doanh added.
Leaders of New Zealand’s Ministry of Basic Industries also pledged to continue to support the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in ensuring the quality of greenhouse gas inventories, through the Global Research Alliance on Emission Reductions. greenhouse gases in agriculture.
The total two-way trade turnover between New Zealand and Vietnam will reach 1.56 billion USD by the end of 2021, up 14% compared to 2020.
As of December 2021, Vietnam is currently New Zealand’s 15th largest trading partner. Vietnam and New Zealand continue to be each other’s potential markets thanks to the high demand for agricultural products from consumers of the two countries.
