HCM CITY — Students and parents are doing most of their shopping online to prepare for the new school year.
Trần Thu Hà, a mother of a six-year-old girl in Đồng Nai Province, said her daughter would be in first grade.
“When the province announced the new school year on September 13, I was in rush,” she said, adding that she was searching on online bookshops in hopes of buying items at bargain prices.
“Because of COVID-19, online shopping makes me feel safe and I have many choices to buy products at bargain prices,” she said.
The HCM City Book Distribution Corp (FAHASA) is offering millions of copies of textbooks from the first to 12th grade, Vietnamese and English language reference books, and children’s books from 80 local and international publishers and distributors at its website www.fahasa.com.
Books are selling at discounts of up to 30 per cent.
Fahasa is also offering discounts of up to 50 per cent for 30,000 stationery items and backpacks from popular manufacturers in Việt Nam, South Korea, Japan, Germany and Thailand.

Students can enjoy a discount of up to VNĐ4 million (US$) if they buy laptops online at thegioididong.com until October 30.
The FPT Shop chain is offering a 5-15 per cent discount and an additional year warranty for laptops until September 30 through its website fptshop.com.vn. — VNS
