Pacific Airlines has officially provided ground handling services to Bamboo Airways at Noi Bai Airport since April 1st. Previously, it served Bamboo Airways at Tan Son Nhat Airport.
All related tasks such as baggage handling, passenger transportation to/from terminals to aircraft, and vice versa on each flight are undertaken by Pacific Airlines.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung, CEO of Pacific Airlines, the service time for flights on the morning of April 1st was completed earlier by 3-5 minutes.
Equipment such as buses has been refurbished, repainted, etc., to serve Bamboo Airways flights at Noi Bai. Baggage conveyor belts for passengers boarding the aircraft are also covered by tarps by Pacific Airlines to prevent rain and bad weather.
Previously, Vietnam Airlines CEO Le Hong Ha also shared about the cooperation between Bamboo Airways and Pacific Airlines in ground services at an event in late 2023.
According to Mr. Ha, Pacific Airlines has ground services departments at 3 airports: Noi Bai, Da Nang, and Tan Son Nhat. During the restructuring process, downsizing the flight crew, the airline also needs to handle its operations at these airports. Therefore, when Bamboo Airways has a demand, Pacific Airlines both supports and creates job opportunities for its staff.
Earlier, Bamboo Airways and ground services company SAGS officially ended their cooperation after 5 years since the first flights. Accordingly, Bamboo Airways will no longer use SAGS’ check-in services, baggage handling, passenger buses, etc.
The “farewell” between the airline and this ground service unit may be due to overdue payments from Bamboo Airways.
Recently, a source from Tri Thuc – Znews confirmed that Bamboo Airways has moved its office from The West building (Dich Vong Ward, Cau Giay District, Hanoi) to the golf course area of Tan Son Nhat, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City. The new office officially started operating on April 1st.
This is the next step of the airline in its comprehensive restructuring process.
Currently, the airline has returned all Embraer E190 aircraft and stopped all flights to Con Dao, Hue, Dong Hoi, leaving only 8 Airbus A320/321 aircraft to operate domestic flights such as HCMC – Hanoi/Da Nang… The airline plans to increase to 12-15 aircraft of the same type by the end of this year if financial conditions and market conditions are favorable.
Bamboo Airways aims to reduce its operating losses to below 1,000 billion VND from 4,000-5,000 billion VND/year in the past 5 years, aiming for break-even in 2025 and profitability in the following years.
