“We are recording very encouraging growth in terms of drivers participation and the number of completed rides after the launch of our pilot program in Đà Nẵng, Hội An and Gò Nổi. This shows that our services are very much welcomed by the people of Vietnam and presents the opportunity for us to continue offering our services in other cities in Vietnam. Today’s launch also reaffirms our commitment to providing a more affordable ride-hailing alternative for Vietnam,” said InDriver’s Chief Operating Officer, Egor Fedorov.
inDriver utilizes the unique Real-Time Deals (RTD) feature to offer affordable fare at any time. The feature gives the freedom for passengers to determine their preferred price for a ride, and for drivers to choose the most profitable and convenient orders. Nearby drivers who received ride request notifications are free to choose either to accept the offered fare, ignore the offer, or bargain for a better price.
Another unique feature of inDriver is that drivers are not automatically assigned to riders. Once the counteroffers are in, passengers can select the most suitable driver that meets their preferences – fare, driver’s rating, estimated time of arrival, or vehicle model.
The RTD feature also combats algorithms used by other ride-hailing companies that increase ride prices due to peak hours, traffic conditions and request history.
In order to ensure the safety of both drivers and passengers, the inDriver app provides the feature to share users’ GPS location and ride details in real-time with trusted contacts. The app also incorporates an emergency button that will connect passengers or drivers directly with law enforcement agencies in case of emergency.
Currently, more than 260 car drivers and 300 motorcycle drivers in Huế have already signed up with inDriver, and more are being registered daily. For a limited time, inDriver will not be charging any service payment from drivers.
Prior to today’s launch, inDriver has gathered users’ feedback on the app usage and found that the inDriver’s ride fares are more attractive compared to other ride-hailing services available in the city. For example, users pay VND 20,000 for a car ride and VND 11,000 for a motorcycle ride from Vincom Plaza Huế to Quốc Học, Huế with inDriver.
inDriver ride-hailing service is available within Huế city border and the nearest suburbs. At the moment, fare transactions can only be made in cash, which allows for further reduction of trip costs by cutting out transaction fees charged by credit cards or online payment.
The inDriver app is available to download for free from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
About inDriver
During the New Year holidays of 2012, the temperature dropped below -45C in the city of Yakutsk, Siberia, in Eastern Russia. As a result, local taxi drivers simultaneously doubled the cost of rides — leaving riders (literally) out in the cold. In response, the inhabitants of Yakutsk created an “Independent Drivers” group on Russia’s social network, where people posted ride requests, listed the price they were willing to pay, and drivers accepted their orders. In just six months, more than 60,000 people had joined the group. Not long after, the mobile app inDriver was created to replace the group, allowing passengers to independently set the most optimal terms for their rides. Today, the service is used by 50 million users in more than 300 cities in 31 countries.
