The Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (NordCham) just held its second-annual business awards at the Sofitel Saigon Plaza in Ho Chi Minh City. Gathering over two hundred business leaders, investors, and diplomats from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, the event celebrated the best of Nordic business in Vietnam.
Themed ‘Nordic Lights’ for 2022, the awards recognized the most equal, inclusive, and sustainable companies, highlighting the core values of Nordic countries and Nordic business communities.
Six awards were up for grabs. The winners of each award were:
- Green Business of the Year was awarded to Carlsberg Vietnam
- Best Sustainable Business Initiative (by an SME) was awarded to Electrolux Vietnam
- Best HR Development Strategy was awarded to Hitachi Energy
- Most Innovative Project was awarded to IMT Solutions
- Work the Nordic Way (Diversity & Inclusion) was awarded to Home Credit Vietnam
- Nordic Growth Award was awarded to SPRING Production
The winners of the first four awards will now go forward to the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) business awards, taking place on 29 November.
In addition to the above awards, special recognition was given to individuals who had a significant impact and made a real difference to the development of Vietnamese-Nordic relations in particular and Vietnamese – European relations in general in the past year.
- Nordic leadership of the year: Mr. Preben Elnef – Vice President – Lego’s Group.
- Nordic friend of the year: Mr. Alain Cany – Chairman of Eurocham
The event aims to celebrate all that has been achieved over the past year and as a rallying call for even greater achievements in the future. The award ceremony also featured a prize draw sponsored by world-famous Danish toy brand LEGO, Qatar Airways, Diageo and so on that were to raise funds and donate to Song Foundation.
Commenting at the event, NordCham Chairman Thue Quist Thomasen said:
“Nordic business has gone from strength to strength in 2022. Our membership continues to grow as more companies see the appeal of Vietnam as a stable, fast-growing, and welcoming place in which to invest and do business. Meanwhile, our unique selling point as Nordic companies – sustainable innovation – enables our members to meet gaps in the market and consumer demand in a range of sectors and industries from pharmaceuticals and logistics to electrical goods and ICT.
