According to the latest report from the Thua Thien Hue Provincial People’s Committee on the socio-economic landscape, the influx of visitors surged by 41% compared to the same period last year, with approximately 892,000 tourists gracing the region’s attractions. Impressively, international visitors accounted for 447,000, surpassing their domestic counterparts, marking a remarkable 74.6% increase. This surge in tourism contributed to a substantial 21% rise in total revenue from tourism during this period.
The momentum in tourism activities continued to flourish, with Thua Thien Hue province orchestrating the inauguration of the Hue-Da Nang tourist train, aptly named “Connecting Central Heritage.” This initiative unveiled a novel tourism experience, leaving a lasting impression on visitors exploring the region’s cultural gems.
However, despite the vibrant tourism sector, the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate for the province in the first quarter of 2024 fell short of expectations, registering at 4.28%. This figure lagged behind the 6.91% growth rate recorded in the corresponding period, positioning the province at the 9th spot out of 12 provinces/cities in the North Central and Central Coast region. The industry-construction sector experienced a modest increase of 2.32%, while the service sector surged by 6.03%, and the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors saw a marginal rise of 0.83%.
