THỪA THIÊN HUẾ – A tourist train between Thừa Thiên – Huế Province and Đà Nẵng City will start operating later this month.
The introduction will mark the liberation days of Thừa Thiên – Huế and Đà Nẵng on March 26 and 29.
Thừa Thiên – Huế Province authorities met with railway officials on March 14 to discuss preparations for the launch of the train to be named “Central Heritage Connection.”
The route offers breathtaking views along Hải Vân Pass, rated one of the 10 most beautiful routes in the world.
Every day there will be two services in either direction, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
The trains will be operated by the Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company (Haraco) in collaboration with local tourism companies.
The expected fare is VNĐ150,000, with a 20 per cent discount for tourism businesses that are members of the Thừa Thiên – Huế and Đà Nẵng tourism associations, and monthly tickets are VNĐ900,000.
The trains will have seven coaches, including one done in the central region style to amuse passengers with arts, cuisine and shopping.
Trần Anh Tuấn, deputy general director of Việt Nam Railway Corporation, said initially the trains would also feature live music performances.
The province is getting tour operators on board and promoting the new train on social media.
Hoàng Hải Minh, deputy chairman of its People’s Committee, said lighting and free wifi would be installed at Huế station.
He said the Huế administration would clear encroachments at the city station and clean it up by March 20.
He hoped the train would contribute to the development of tourism services in Thừa Thiên – Huế and Đà Nẵng. – VNS
