In mid-March, Yahoo Finance published a short analysis of the tourism situation in Asia, along with suggestions for 20 destinations that travelers should be more aware of. Among them, the city of Hue in Vietnam is mentioned.
Yahoo Finance believes that Hue is one of the destinations in the S-shaped country that needs to be widely promoted. This city was once the capital of the Nguyen dynasty, and many historical relics of the city are well preserved, including the Imperial City (the Citadel).
“Hue has several UNESCO-recognized heritage sites, including temples, palaces, and pagodas, showcasing the power and traditions from the country’s previous dynasties. Furthermore, in autumn, the city exudes a naturally sweet fragrance, creating an interesting experience for tourists,” Yahoo Finance describes.
In addition to Vietnam’s representation, the city of Skardu in Pakistan is also present in this suggested list. Yahoo Finance calls this destination “a paradise for mountain tourism” due to its strategic location, nestled in the heart of the Karakoram mountain range, with peaks exceeding 7,000 meters.

Hachimantai (Japan) is also highly rated by the newspaper. Unlike the bustling urban areas with skyscrapers in Tokyo, Hachimantai bears the mark of nature, renowned for its year-round skiing resort. This is also an ideal destination for tourists to explore natural hot springs. The city offers tourists a more authentic experience of Japanese tradition rather than contemporary culture in Tokyo.
Regarding the Asian tourism market, Yahoo Finance notes that the demand for travel has surged since governments lifted travel restrictions.

In terms of the overall outlook for the global tourism industry, the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) stated that in 2023, the tourism market had recovered about 88%. This figure is expected to surpass the threshold in 2024. However, economic difficulties are changing tourists’ travel habits. They desire to explore truly new and unfamiliar destinations.
Referring to tourism in the Asian region, Yahoo Finance believes that the continent, which has the largest land area in the world, still has great potential for tourism development despite being the first affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Evidence of this is that Asia still has 8 out of 10 places on Tripadvisor’s top destinations list for 2024 as voted by readers worldwide.
“It’s great to see long-haul flights to Asia gradually recovering,” commented Tripadvisor’s Editor-in-Chief.
