The authorities of Quang Nam Province announced on August 13 that social distancing measures will be continued in Hoi An City until further notice.
The decision was signed by Tran Van Tan, vice chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee. Social distancing rules will be applied from August 14 until further notice in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. Quang Nam authorities asked Hoi An residents to follow the social distancing rules as per Prime Ministerial Directive 16.
The residents in Hoi An were asked to stay home and only go out only when necessary. Gatherings of more than two people are banned in public and people must stay a minimum two metres apart.
Factories, essential shops, banks, and some services that directly related to banking and legal procedures like notaries, lawyers and registries can still remain open with the head of the firms and offices responsible for the employees and customers’ safety.
Cultural and educational activities and religious events will be suspended. Tourist areas like beaches will also be closed. Public transportation will be largely suspended and only open for special cases like carrying people to quarantine areas or transporting experts. The use of personal vehicles will be limited.
Other districts and towns in Quang Nam that are also applying social distancing rules are Thang Binh, Duy Xuyen, Dien Ban, Que Son and Dai Loc. Tran Van Tan said the extension of social distancing regulations in these locations will be decided later.
