Ho Chi Minh City will install AI-based surveillance camera to catch traffic offenders in some main roads and bus fleets as well as track, regulate and analyze vehicle movement on roads.
The People’s Committee has given the green light to the pilot scheme to install AI-based surveillance cameras to catch traffic offenders which will be carried out by the municipal Department of Transport and a global monetary security technology company. Cost of the scheme in six months will be covered by the company.
Before, the Department proposed installation of AI-based video surveillance cameras for traffic flow estimation in intersections such as Dien Bien Phu Street – Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Dien Bien Phu – Pasteur, Dien Bien Phu – Pham Ngoc Thach and Dien Bien Phu – Hai Ba Trung.
Traffic flow analysis and estimation will be based on the data from AI-based surveillance camera. City authorities will have solutions for traffic optimization.
Additionally, the surveillance camera systems will automatically detect traffic offenders to send the images of them to the traffic controlling and monitoring centers.
Along with the AI-based video surveillance cameras, the Department of Transport also proposed AI application for automatic identification of bus passengers. It will be piloted in ten buses.
The system automatically detects traffic violations and robbery, fire incident and environment index to send to the host server, Director Thuy said.
